Tofte, Minnesota
A quiet stretch of the North Shore where the Boundary Waters begin and the noise fades out.
Location
We sit just outside Tofte, Minnesota — close enough to the amenities of the Lake Superior coast, but far enough away to hear the loons calling at dusk.
Tofte is the gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. From our site, it's a short drive to the ferry landing, the Iron Range trailheads, and the sandy beaches of Lake Superior. Whether you're here for a weekend or a season, the location is the first amenity.
What we offer
No frills. Just the things you actually need when you're staying out at the edge of the woods.
Simple, clean cabins with basic bedding. No TV. Just a roof, a bed, and the sound of wind in the pines.
Spacious sites with shade and privacy. Pull-through and back-in options available for various rig sizes.
Every site comes with a fire ring and a picnic table. Bring your own firewood or pick some up locally.
A small private beach and a dock for kayaks and canoes. Launch your own gear or borrow ours in season.
Direct access to hiking and canoe trails. The BWQ boundary is just a short portage away.
Clean, heated restroom facilities with hot showers. Pump-out station available for RVs.
The experience
There's no reason to rush when you're this far north.
Wake up to mist rising off the lake. Make coffee on the camp stove and watch the bald eagles circle overhead. In the evening, the sky opens up — no streetlights, no glow on the horizon. Just the Milky Way, clear and bright.
Crescent Lake Campground is for people who want to unplug without giving up the basics. We're not a resort. We're a place to sleep well, eat well, and forget about the week.
